Wakayama - Invitation to Koya and Kumano

Welcome to the Photo Exhibition "Wakayama - Invitation to Koya and Kumano".

Bangsbo Museum & Arkiv
Dr. Margrethes Vej 6
9900 Frederikshavn

August 16th to 18th, 2007.

The "World Heritage: Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range" in the Wakayama Prefecture of Japan were registered as a world heritage in 2004.

A world heritage is something that is owned jointly by all the people of the world who exist in this present day and time, and is a treasure common to all mankind, that should be inherited by future generations.
There is no concept of border here.
To love your own country's culture and history will lead you to understand and respect other countries' cultures and histories as well.

In this photographic exhibition we will present Koya and Kumano from the World Heritage Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range, including scenes resplendent in the beauty of nature, and will share with European visitors the emotions derived from a culture inherited from the past.
Moreover, we will hold this photo exhibition with a fervent prayer that a chance to consider the importance of world peace and the protection of our earthly environment will result from this exhibition.
